Dr. Jesus Matos has been sharing his extensive vascular surgery expertise with patients throughout the region since 2015 when he moved to San Antonio. Before practicing in TCVS Dr. Matos was an assistant professor of surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center.
Dr. Matos has a clinical interest and passion for limb salvage but he is specially trained in treating all vascular conditions including leg circulation problems, carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysm, varicose veins and dialysis access. Dr. Matos specializes in advanced Endovascular procedures and open surgery.
A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Matos obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Medical degree from Indiana University and did his General Surgery residency in Indiana university.
For his vascular training he attended the Baylor College of Medicine and stayed as faculty after his training before moving to San Antonio.
Dr. Matos received a very prestigious NIH T32 Research grant and has written numerous research publications and given many presentations on the effects and treatments of vascular disease. Dr. Matos enjoys spending time with family and anything related to the university of texas athletics. Healthy living and exercising are important part of his livestyle.
